Did Adam Have A First Wife Named Lilith?

There are some who insist that Adam had a first wife named Lilith. This assumption is erroneous on several counts. First, there is no mention of anyone by the name of Lilith anywhere in the Bible. And second, the book of Genesis records that EVE was created from Adam the same day he was created (Gen. 1:26-28). God brought Eve to Adam, and they became husband and wife before sunset that very evening (Gen. 2:18-25). Eve got her name from the fact that she was the mother of all living (Gen. 3:20). No other individuals then existed.

Webster’s Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary” says the following of LILITH: “1: a female figure who in RABBINIC LEGEND is Adam’s first wife, is supplanted by Eve, and becomes an evil spirit; 2: a famous witch in medieval demonology” (emphasis mine).

I do not believe there is any validity or authority to this rabbinic legend and aspect of medieval demonology. God’s inspired Word, the only inspired record of this event, says clearly that Adam’s “first wife” was Eve, not a legendary “female” demon named Lilith!

  1. Hi Melchia as you know HLH’s time line for the Palaeolithic industries is 1656 yrs from 4004 BC to 2348 BC (Compendium world History) Did Adam start with a “stone age Culture”? John

  2. If Ussher’s date be correct for the creation of Adam (4004 BC) and assuming Adam used stone tools although not a hunter-gatherer then 1656 yrs would be to 2348 BC.

Please note I am not here using 4004 BC for the creation of the earth and universe but ownly for Adam’s creation and the six literal 24 hour days of recreation John

  3. The supposed successive cultures named from materials used, are even today, contemporary, and were not successive.

John, can you reconcile these culture teachings with the veracity of Scripture? You are trying to say that the imaginary existence of long geological ages shows our forefathers were low savage and semi-savage. And thus the evolutionary point of view is securely planted.

Now, the cultures you quote are from the basis of science. You believe in them because you believe in science. However, you’re not careful to vet what you read John. The errors of science don’t lie in inaccurate observation and measurement, but mistakes and absurdities which may be traced to its uniform insistence of explaining and interpreting everything observed from the evolutionary concept.

Dr. More, in his book, The Dogma of Evolution, well says: “Scientific men carefully sift the accuracy of observations and measurements, while they are at the same time singularly indifferent toward the manifest absurdity of many of the ‘scientific’ hypotheses.”

I’m not say that all science is false. In fact, there is no conflict whatever between TRUE science and the Bible. True science is truth. And the Word of God is truth. Truth does not contradict itself. The more practical and mechanical branches of science have produced that which contributes to what we know and enjoy today. In fact, insofar as the modern scientist confines his efforts to pure observation and measurement, he is invariably careful, cautious, accurate, and trustworthy.

However, his tremendous mistake consists in his false REASONING: from the viewpoint which rejects the power of God, and the inspiration of the Holy Scriptures as the Word of God. “The fear of the ETERNAL is the BEGINNING of wisdom,” and of knowledge. When our learned scientist scoffs at the miracles of the Bible; when he denies to God the power to interfere in any supernatural way with the works of His own Creation, and “receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God,” which “are foolishness unto him”; then his vaunted “wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.” That, as nearly as I can express it, is the Bible definition of when we may accept the findings of science, and when they should be rejected.

It’s well to bear in mind that all of the phenomena of nature which our modern scientists explain from the evolutionary viewpoint are more rationally explained from the viewpoint of “the fear of the ETERNAL,” which is the BEGINNING of wisdom and knowledge.

I’m not sure if you’re pursuing the evolutionary path John, but what you quote is the basis of it. The greatest weapon against the insidious poison of evolutionary propaganda is sound Bible TRUTH. Science never has, and never will discover any evidences in nature which contradicts this. They may find much which disputes careless, willful, and false interpretations of the Bible. And the assumptions, guesses, hypotheses, theories, interpretations and conclusions placed by science upon its observed and measured findings may run diametrically counter to sound Bible doctrine, and to Truth.

A true understanding of the Bible — a rare thing indeed — will always prove the key and the very basis for the understanding of all things. Of all the things in which human man falls short, he has no greater shortcoming than a lack of understanding. This is by no means a criticism of you John, but the books you keep quoting me are written by men with such a lack of understanding.

  4. Hi Melchia it’s great to hear from you . I think what I would say in answer to your question “Can I reconcile vast geological ages to scripture to be absolutely honest is that I can’t and would not want to.

As for example you quite rightly say and yes I absolutely aggree with you is that the so-called stone-age cultures along with metal working were contemporary I was quoting HLH’s Compendium of World History where he says that the Palaeolithic industry lasted 1656 yrs from 4004 BC to 2348 BC in Ussher’s chronology from Adam’s creation.

Thus to say it was ownly Huntergatherers (Which quite clearly Adam was not and was a “gardener or aggriculturalist) would be absolutely false. Thus Genesis talks I think in chapter 2 about the rivers flowing out of Eden and that “The Gold of that Land is Good ” Plus Onyx Stone &c. Now that is most interesting is’nt it. This might presuppose that God taught Adam how to use metals before the invention by Tubal Cain of Smelting Bronze and Iron (ca 3500 BC).

You might like to go to my website and click on “Chronology of “Neolithic Man”” Part Two where you will also see my combined industries chart for Britain Ireland Northwest Europe and Bible Lands where the author confines the terms “Palaeolithic” Neolithic/Bronze Iron and Steel to industries ownly and most certainly not “ages”. I have been influenced and indeed persuaded by Darrell White that the term Mesolithic is an evolutionary uniformitarian nonsense as it implies a supposed transitional period from Palaeolithic (Hunter Gatherers) and “Neolithic” aggriculturalists) which there never was andis thus an evolutionary deception so this author has on the advice of Darrell rejected the term “Mesolithic”> Thus I can ownly reconcile Palaeolithic maybe in regard to Cain and his decendents being vagabonds and wanderers etc. Thus I would ownly use the terms Palaeolithic for Hunter gatheres (and this includes all huntergatherers and I do mean all huntergathers) and the term Neolithic in connection to aggricultural industries being all though evolutionary terms they are very usefull labels which it will be noted in this connection from my combined industries chart.

You might also like to read my “Alternative History of Europe” which is also on “WordPress ” along with Vern Crisler and perhaps others. Of particular interest in this connection is that Velekovskey in his “Earth in Upheaval” has mentioned that on the Lena River in Russia or near there they the people were living in Palaeolithic time Neolithic time/Bronze Iron and steel time also. To reconcile this would be toquote Darrell as he says this harmonizes with the earliest world survey teams who thus had a combined industry of Bronze Iron and steel and also stone tools. I hope Melchia that in conclusion that this is of some help to you and have answered your question correctly. I might just add that I think Adam probably had a combined industry of stone and Gold and perhaps Bog Iron. Meanwhile Melchia as Mike Fischer would say Very Good Hunting:- John

  5. I would certainl not say our forfathers were savages . Because people use stone and metal tchnologies or industries does not make them “savages” John

    • You might not, but the indication of evolutionary scholars is just that.

  6. The River Leana is not far from where the ark landed thus in conclusion I can probably reconcile these contemporary or combined industries with the earliest survey teams to 2295 BC with perhaps Sidon in the West heading up the navigation John

  7. Yes Melchia I think we are pretty much aggreed on the Contemporary Industries Concept. Even Donald A Macenzie in his “Ancient Man in Britain” is of the same oppinion as you and I.

I think there is or was a tendency for HLH in his “Compendium of World History” to assign long periods for the Palaeolithic Industries. Is he serious when he says that the Palaeolithic lasted from 4004 BC to 2348 BC (1656 yrs from Adam’s Creation? We must not forget as the Genesis record makes absolutely clear that Man (ie Adam) was a farmer/gardener from his creation.

This makes a bit of a nonsense for HLH to say this when bothof us know some aggriculturalists like Cain degenerated into Hunter-Gatherers. Thus in Conclusion this would be the Biblical Creation Model for the “Stone age Cultures” John

    • John, Cain did not degenerate into a hunter gatherer. he was forced to become a nomad because of the curse on him by God for killing his brother. So whatever he touched trying to grow it from the ground died. This was the curse of Cain, not man in general.

  8. Thanks Melchia I take your point . Of interest in this connection I wondered if you might like to draw up an Industries chart and send me what you believe were the contemporary “stoneage” cultures hving in mind that there was metalury at the same time and Ussher’s chronology for the creation of Adam (4004 BC and 2348 for the Flood.

Darrell informs me that Tubal Cain descovered the smelting of Bronze and Iron about 3500 BC (using a rounded figure) What I have found interesting about the Nephilim is that Genesis tells us that the Nephilim were there there in those days and “Also After That”. This would imply that Ham’s wife might have carried the “Neanderthal” Gene so that any offspring might be considered to be “Post Flood ” “Neanderthal/Nephilim” which I think is of great interest is’nt it? John

  9. I have also deduced that 120 yrs before the flood when mankind spread over the earth that this could be dated 2468 BC thus 2348 BC (given Ussher’s date for the flood) + 120yrs=2468 BC. Do we know approximately on Ussher’s time line that Cain was bourne John

  10. This concept even given by “Creation Wikpedia” would show that given Dr Jack Cuozzo’s concept on Neanderthal (That Neanderthals were really old in some cases maybe 900 plus years ) that they were closer to the creation of Adam. John
