It’s been said that many of the people involved in the violent anarchy and looting in British and American cities are likely to have been from low-income, high unemployment estates, and many, if not most, don’t have much of a legitimate future.
What is left out of this equation is that this is the result of a three-decade liberal experiment which tore up virtually every basic social value. The married two-parent family has been virtually dismantled and abandoned.
When it comes to punishing criminals, opportunist thugs get a free pass. The riots have been fuelled by moral collapse, with homes and businesses going up in flames, and epidemic looting. And while it is clear that adults were involved, this mayhem has been carried out by teenagers and children also, some as young as eight.
Combined with a lack of intervention from police, looters quickly see that police cannot control the situation, which leads to a sort of adrenalin-fuelled euphoria where there is nothing anyone can do. It seems these youths, or let’s call it what it is – these opportunistic thugs — feel absolutely entitled to steal whatever they want. It seems incredulous that them that anyone should suggest they might be in the wrong.
We should not assume that this type of behavior is merely fueled by poverty, but more as a moral collapse, a complete breakdown of civilized behaviour unprecedented in modern times.
Where exactly are the responsible parents of these kids? And what do they say when their offspring comes come with stolen goods? Do they get their privileges taken away? Sarcasm aside, there are clearly pockets of society that are not just broken, but sick. And at the very root of these problems lies the breakdown of the family. Most of these children come from lone-mother households, where in the absence of the guidance of a strong, committed father, the children have turned into feral savages. In fact, there are pockets of society where a father is viewed as a wholly unknown phenomenon, and where transitory males passing through the household abound, leaving the mother to act as a lone and dysfunctional parent. That doesn’t mean mothers do not make good parents. But a strong and lovingly committed family largely prevents the existential rage and desperate emotional need of children who lash out from infancy at everyone around them. Such children inhabit a world without a disciplined or loving framework of boundaries or rules, where emotional and physical chaos and violence abound. Yes, lone mothers finally have their rights, but the evidence seen on television today also shows a catastrophe for society as a result of those rights.
We will still have those who sneer at this type of message, but the evidence is now clear that married parents are better for children than any other arrangement. It is clear that the sexual free-for-all of ‘lifestyle choice’ was the wrong choice. It is clear that putting down the male breadwinner as a sexist anachronism was wrong. And it is definitely clear that single mothers, an idea spawned by ultra-feminist wreckers, are a bane to society, now ending up with looting shops, robbing and leaving people for dead in the streets.
Our societies are plagued by a Welfare State mentality, and an attitude that criminal wrongdoing should be excused on the basis that the criminals can’t help themselves. All welfare dependency does is further create an entitlement culture. These looters believe the world owes them a living and that their actions have no no consequences. How can it be otherwise when punishment has become a dirty by-word of non-judgmentalism.
Lone parenthood and dysfunctional behaviour is transmitted down through generations at the very bottom of a social heap burdened under a tax system that penalizes married couples with a wife who doesn’t work. As if that is a great social stigma.
Schools also now abandon any moral teachings as an attack upon a child’s autonomy and self-esteem, as if children can be expected to learn and decide for themselves about behaviour such as sexual morality or drug-taking. Now we are left with a society that is illiterate and innumerate, not able to think or function adequately by themselves. And compounded with the modern ‘victim culture’ of minority groups, the majority of society receives the blame for all bad behavior of perceived minorities. Criminal actions are excused under circumstances of poverty, or unemployment. The rights of the criminals are safeguarded vehemently against the safety and security of victims, while punishment through the criminal justice system has turned into a joke.
The social and moral breakdown behind the riots witnessed on television is a legacy of left-wing politicians and middle-class ideologues who live on a diet of ‘progressive’ non-judgmentalism. They’ll screech that evidence to the contrary is nonsense, despite cities burning and bodies left lying in bushes after being repeatedly beaten. They’ll continue to promote drug liberalization, continue liberalized education and call those who oppose immigration and multiculturalism ‘racists.
Until our nations turn to God, they will continue on a downward spiral of curses promised by their Creator, for disobedience. Soft headed church leaders will continue to prattle on with social solutions, leaving out biblical instruction on moral concepts that underlie our civilization. They have thrown away the commandments of God as unnecessary, which is why they have such a terrible time coming to an understanding of these curses. Perhaps, rather than throwing away half of their Bible as unnecessary, they should turn to these pages to receive understanding of why these things are happening. God is wrathful and He will continue to punish if we ignore Him.
